The Maphumulo Uprising: War, Law and Ritual in the Zulu Rebellion

A book by Jeff Guy in which he analyses the second phase of the so-called Bambatha Rebellion, also called the Zulu Rebellion and the impi yamakhanda. Guy’s focus is on the events which took place in the Maphumulo district between June and July of 1906. This period saw several incidents of unrest severely suppressed by Colony of Natal militia and culminated in the arrest of many of the uprising’s leaders.
