The James Stuart Hyperlinked Archival Research Tool is an innovative research experiment. The tool facilitates a crossover of an electronic version of The James Stuart Archive of Recorded Oral Evidence and a digital version of Stuart’s handwritten notes. Its intended purpose is to allow researchers to examine the text of the published volumes alongside that of the original handwritten notes. At present, the Killie Campbell Africana Library in Durban, which houses Stuart’s original handwritten notes, has only permitted the scans of a single interlocutor’s evidence to be made available to all. The interlocutor in question is Socwatsha kaPhaphu.
The Hyperlinked Archival Research Tool can be accessed on EMANDULO here.
